Final Reflection

In these few days of MPU 2, I have learned to identify my own skills and capabilities through Taylor's Graduate Capabilities activity. This assists me in identifying my own weaknesses and strengths. Besides, I do learn on how to create a blog to do my e-portfolio. Activities such as learning style and career test have been carried out in these few days to guide us to set our goal in life.

Activity like SWOT helps me to identify my own strengths, weaknesses, opportunity and threats. With the activity given, I found out that I am able to recognize and analyze these criteria on each of them who presented in front. This actually strengthen my observation skills as I have to observe thoroughly. Next, action plan has been carried out so that we can work on our weaknesses and find a solution to tackle with our current main problem. As bad communication skill is my main problem that need to be overcome, several attainable action steps have been listed to guide me in moving towards my goal.

Through the activities of learning style, it helps us to know and understanding our learning style which helps us to learn more efficiently. Thus, I will be able to capitalize on my own strengths and become a more self-confident empowered learner. From the test carried out, I found out that I am weak in auditory. Therefore, I can improve my study habits by listening to more illustration video. Moreover, communicate with lecturer is a way to improve my study habits. This is very useful to me as it could help me to develop a good study habit which benefits me in my university life.

Besides, the career test does help me to identify my strengths in each field such as realistic, investigative, artistic, social, enterprising and conventional. Based on the test, conventional is my first choice, followed by social and third one is enterprising. Analysis showed that people who have the criteria of conventional will do things in organize manner. They are suitable in the field of accountant, banking and finance or even event planner. I totally agreed with this test as I am on path of these field. Hence, I can affirm that my degree course chosen so far is on the right track as refer to the test carried out.

At last, this personal development activity in MPU 2 does help me in my learning in future. As my major interested course now is economics and finance, I will work hard towards my goal by developing a good learning style and personal development. This will greatly influence my life in future as I have gained a lot through this SAM programme.

Action Plan

1. Reflect on the following questions to develop your final outcome and results statement:

The goal that I most want to focus on right now is to pursue higher education with excellent results. By having a good result, I am able to enter a good university and meet the requirements. I will have a better opportunity to expose to higher level of education to improve myself to become more knowledgeable. Hence, I can seek for a better employment in my future. This eventually has a great impact to my whole life afterwards. During this process to achieve my goal, the problem of communication skills might slow down my progress. As having bad communication skill is my first challenge, I would like to tackle the problem by improving myself to become better.

2. Establish attainable action steps including specific dates to guide you in moving forward on your time line toward
     achieving your goal.
As mentioned early, bad communication skill is my main challenge in achieving my goal. I would like to improve my English language so that I am able to communicate fluently and express myself well. In order to improve myself, several attainable action steps have to be taken to guide me in moving forward on my time line toward. By the end of the year which is around 20th of December, I would like to attend a language class to improve my communication skill. Guidance from the teacher will allow me to have a better idea of the problems on me. Therefore, I will rehabilitate my weaknesses of communication so that I am able to talk fluently later onwards.

3. Who is your Support Network for this particular goal you have set? Which individuals may be of assistance to you in helping you to achieve this goal?

My parents are my main support network for this particular goal that I have set. My parents always support me by giving advice and guidance so that I am not in a loss. They also stand by my side when I am facing ups and downs in life. They are the one that assist me in achieving this goal. Without them, I could not even have the opportunity to enter Taylor's College to study SAM programme.

4. Identify any obstacles that may prevent you from achieving this goal.

There are some obstacles that prevent me from achieving this goal. Sometimes, I really face difficulty in concentrating for a long time. I am easily being distracted by the advanced technology products such as mobile phone, ipad and laptop. Therefore, I spent time on mobile phone to entertain myself instead of focusing in study. This has caused a great impact to me and prevent me from achieving this goal.

5. Brainstorm what adjustments you can make in order to overcome these obstacles and stay on the path of achieving your goal.

In order to overcome this obstacle, I have to stay away from the mobile phone which has distracting my concentration. I have to take small action to solve this problem such as silent or turn off the mobile phone while I am study. "No play and work makes Jack a dull boy", I have to set a limit about 30 minutes for me to relax myself after study for a long time. This would be an efficient way to study and release myself from stress. Hence, I would be able to stay on the path of achieving my goal and successful in life.

Reflective Assignment 1

Throughout SAM programme, the economics subject has given us the most things to learn. The very first assignment given to us was "Article Analysis". This assignment requires us to think critically on the message that is hidden in the article. We prepared drafts and then showed it to teacher to assess it. after that, we do several amendments on the assignment backed up by evidence on the internet. In the process, we analyzed the article critically and provided different solutions to tackle the multiple situations. The assignment was then handed in on time. This assignment allowed us to develop Taylor's Graduate Capabilities (TGC).

The first TGC that we obtained through this assignment is digital literacy. Our teacher taught us to use the internet resources efficiently by using more specific terms to get more appropriate result. We were also exposed to the website such as "www.tradingeconomics.com" to search for economics information and data for our assignment. In addition, we learned to hand in our assignment through the internet by using "Turnitin" to check the originality of our work.

Furthermore, we have achieved the thinking and problem solving skills. The moment we found the article assigned to this assignment, we immediately read through and linked the points with our economics chapters. We then interpret and figure out economic policies that is suitable for current economic situation.

Moreover, interpersonal skills are mastered when we strive to complete our assignment. Throughout the process to complete our assignment, we had met teacher as a group to discuss about the ways to improve our assignment. We had to communicate with teacher in a very formal manner and be caring towards our group members. We also discussed about the topic with our friends to generate more brilliant ideas.

These TGCs allowed us to be able to communicate better with others. For instance, the interpersonal skills granted us a good coordination with teammates so that future group works can be done with ease through efficient communication. Whenever a problem arises, we will be able to solve it calmly without stress because if the thinking and problem solving skills.  When we are able to grab the idea of the interview questions and answer them with good response.

Or future plans will be greatly associated with the TGCs. For example, we will be able to compete with other graduates for job opportunities because we have an extra skill called digital literacy. It allows us to survive in this fast-changing technological world. Moreover, we would be able to penetrate the job market without barriers. Our contribution will be able to boost economic growth and employment rate.

Goal !!!

My goal in life is to pursue higher education in order to have a better job in future. I'm planning to work in the field related to investment manager, remisier, financial planner or financial analyst. The university if my choice is Taylor's University. It offers the program of  Bachelor of Business (Hons) Finance & Economics which I'm interested in. Through this program, I will be able to develop methodological approaches and knowledge required to analyse and evaluate the complexities of financial markets. I will discover more about captital markets and investment decision-making, option pricing as well as national economics on a macro-economic level. The per-requirement for South Australian Matriculation (SAM) which I'm taking now is minimum ATAR 65.
